Chain Reaction

I’m doing a Creative Writing course now. You get to see more of my scribbles, lucky you. Wrote this in a class, let’s see how it goes.

City Living

We’re dumpster-divers
in an urban ocean.
Black bag treasure chests
banana skins and chicken bones.

Our country cousins
go on the hunt,
picking off hens
from the farmers coop.

Why bother when we have Mc Donalds
and the dregs of Sundays roasts.
Fast food foxes

crying into the dawn,
banshee screams and baby wails
scatter through the neighbourhood.

Car headlamps and 2AM footsteps
and we shoot off to the next street.
